6 Tips for Your Kitchen Renovation

Are you planning to revamp your kitchen space? Do you finally have the time and money to accomplish that kitchen face-lift? If so, you’re in luck!

This article will fill you in on all you need to know on ensuring your kitchen upgrade project is a success.

Although the primary function of your kitchen is to prepare and cook meals for your family, it’s important to treat its aesthetics with the same level of care as other parts of your home.

After all, it’s a place that’s frequently visited. Whenever you want to grab something from the fridge, whip up a quick meal, or store ingredients in your pantry, the kitchen is the place you’ll step foot in.

Without further ado, here are six useful tips for you to implement for your upcoming kitchen renovation.

Tips for Your Kitchen Renovation

1) Plan A Realistic Budget

Depending on the scale of your renovation, you may potentially be dealing with hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. This also doesn’t yet account for minor costs that you may spend throughout the project.

As such, it’s crucial to plan a budget that accurately reflects your income and spending potential. The last thing you’ll want is to become knee-deep in debt just because of a minor aesthetic upgrade.

That said, you don’t want to start working on your renovation when you’re short on funds yourself. You must have a realistic figure in mind that can cover the costs of your kitchen upgrade.

And, no matter if you’re going for a minor or major upgrade, be sure to stick with your expected budget the whole way through!

2) Optimise Your Kitchen Space

The functionality of your space is incredibly important when designing a kitchen. Having a good foothold on the functionality of your kitchen can make a world of difference when performing your daily, obligatory kitchen duties.

The good news is that it’s not super challenging to set up a workable kitchen space. Most kitchen designers abide by the trusty work triangle when determining a layout. This setup entails the placement of three important kitchen elements: your sink, stove, and refrigerator. These should be placed in a triangular fashion that allows you to access each one efficiently.

While it may depend on the size of your kitchen, having these three elements near each other can make movement across areas of the kitchen more streamlined and frictionless.

3) Sample Your Backsplashes

Let’s face it, once you’re done renovating your kitchen, you probably wouldn’t want to mess around with it for a couple of years or more.

If you picked up a lacklustre backsplash from your local kitchen hardware store and settled with it, you may be stuck with a less-than-stellar backdrop for a long time.

While subjectivity definitely varies, you definitely don’t want to be displeased every time you enter your kitchen for your design choices. As such, it’s important to sample out different backsplashes and choose the ones that resonate with you the most.

One way to do that is by requesting samples from the company and checking out how they look in your kitchen to see if you like them. If that’s not allowable, step foot in a local store and look at how the backsplash complements the rest of the kitchen appliances.

As another pro tip, try to choose neutral tones as much as possible. You don’t want your kitchen to look crowded and overwhelming with bold hues. If you want to add some colour to your walls or floors, you may also consider appropriate tiling or coloured appliances instead.

4) Replace Worn-Out Appliances

Do you feel that the look and feel of your kitchen is subpar, but can’t quite put your finger on why? It might be because your kitchen appliances are starting to show signs of wear and tear.

A lot of older households tend to keep their appliances for years until they start to malfunction or break down. While it’s completely fine to squeeze every bit of value from your appliance, there will eventually come a time when you’ll have to remove them from your life for good.

As such, don’t hesitate to consider buying new ArchiPro kitchen products to revamp your kitchen once you have the budget for it. This applies to anything that looks like it’d need replacing, from microwaves to coffee machines.

5) Care For Lighting Fixtures

The lighting of a room can dictate its atmosphere, and this can’t be any more true in a kitchen setting. Kitchens have to be bright and airy throughout the clock.

When you’re working with electrical appliances, hot surfaces, and cutlery, safety is of utmost priority. The last thing you’d want is to accidentally cut yourself due to the lack of illumination.

As such, it’s important to assess the lighting fixture of your kitchen in advance. If they look like they may need replacing due to age and wear, consider investing in better ones as soon as possible.

You may also install additional lighting fixtures like scones and pendant lights in spaces that are naturally dim.

6) Make Way for Cabinet Space

Your kitchen cabinets are where you’ll store your appliances, utensils, and food. As such, if you don’t have enough space for all these items, your place may look like a hoarder’s haven with all these items strewn out and about.

Before starting the remodelling process, be sure to get a good idea of what items go into what cabinet and how you can properly organise them all. Once you get that sorted out, then you can find cabinetry solutions that fit your needs.

As a pro tip, try to install as many upper cabinets as possible for items like glassware, cookbooks, and dishes. The more storage options you have at your disposal, the more clutter-free your kitchen environment will be.

And it doesn’t need to be said that a clean kitchen is one that’s a joy to work in!
